Line is ubiquitous, and most often simplified to the concept of a moving point. My belief is that, just as the two points of a line can be infinite and interchangeable, so can our experience and understanding of it; constituting the idea that the identity of line is also a moving point. As drawing is a means to delineate, it can be a tool with which we can begin to delineate the identity of line itself. As such, this body of work attempts to explore how line sits within drawing practices, particularly focusing on the fluidity of its identity through creating a dialogue between what could be called ‘Threads’ and ‘Traces’. The work also begins to question how line as a concept can alter our perception of its identity. Specifically focusing on how the mobility of line as a concept, can metaphorically accommodate a ‘walking line’.
